The world is changing every day, trends are created months, sometimes years in advance and before we know it, we are rocking that trend and thinking how off-brand we were for wearing the last one.

It really shows the evolution of creativity and status in the world. From having the biggest blowout with loud clothes to now clean cuts and minimalistic, barely there clothing. Don’t dismiss the blowout though, cause they very well may make a comeback!

The point is, change happens, your consumers change, marketing tactics change, your business changes – we are always evolving. That big, bold colourful logo you have had for the past seven years may now be considered outdated which can potentially portray your business as outdated and not up to speed with the current market. The flip-side to this is that there is a familiarity with your current consumers, and this is where these handy tips may help you in making a decision in whether or not a rebrand is suitable for you and your biz.

If you decide to go ALL-IN, here are six ways on how to communicate a rebrand with clarity and fervour.

1. Open up to your customers

The fear of change is commonplace and everyone deals with this at some point in life and business. We are often always thinking “if I change this then xyz will happen”.

Open up to your customers and let them know that changes are coming to show and reflect your business’s growth. You’ll be surprised to find out that the majority of your customers will be encouraging and positive towards this because not only did you show that they were important by giving them a heads-up, customers also want to grow with the businesses they support.

2. Patience is key

Now that you’ve given the heads-up to your people, it is time to plan and strategise with your team. A rebrand can be a lengthy process at times, especially when you want to ensure the new image for your business is the right one. This isn’t a bad thing at all, in fact this will help your customers slowly move into the new groove that you’re creating. Little things like introducing your new colour palette, imagery and layout can go a long way and help prepare your customers and larger audience to your new aesthetic.

3. Cover all bases

One thing that is easy to forget is that customers come from all different forms of media. While you may have made the heads-up post on your Instagram (for example), don’t forget about your other platforms, be it digital and/or traditional.

Ensure that you share this news on all platforms including your blog and email mailer list. This will show on all forms of media that the rebrand rollout is happening and you’re making the effort to ensure everyone is informed.

4. Show off that REBRAND baby!

Don’t limit your rebrand to just your logo, show it all off! Show your customers how this rebrand is happening and that you are proud of it!

This may be through showcasing a new portfolio of services/products, a coming soon/promotion, a competition and/or giveaway – whatever it may be, show it off and invite your customers to be a part of the action.

5. Stay focused

While you may be preoccupied in the rebrand, and it’s a big project that can be quite time consuming, don’t forget about your business and your current customers! Make sure you’re still keeping your business running at a high. Dropping the ball at any one time is a sure-fire way to lower your customer’s trust. “You were a great business/brand/service, but then all of a sudden this rebrand is making you take longer on your services, maybe this rebrand won’t make you become better” is something you may start hearing if you don’t keep your business running at its most optimal.

6. Go all-in

When it is time for the rebrand to finally go LIVE, make sure to really go all-in on this with clarity, confidence and class. Show your customers why this rebrand is important and they will appreciate your revamp and your refresh in spades. Keep it simple, be clear, and your customers will stand with you and support your new branding venture.
